So yesterday everyone was chatting about ‘licking’ in the pet blogosphere…..a photo hunt task, and it got me thinking.
How many cats out there hold their tail’s in their paw to clean them? I had never seen it done until Bayou came to live with us. He always holds the tail in his paw for a good thorough cleaning.
Now that we have Asia, she does it as well! (although I have yet to catch that one on film).
So question, does anyone else have felines that clean their tails by holding them in their paws? I am curious now.
Bengals are notorious for using their paws quite a bit, especially for finding trouble, but I am sure other kitties out there do this as well!

You need to learn about the Tail Chasers Club (you can read about it – and even join it – on our blog). It’s a club for cats with, should we say, an interesting relationship with their tale.
The club was started by Cliff who needs to catch and hold his tail, Sam, before he cleans it. And Sam is not well behaved.
That’s a very interesting tail-cleaning technique!!
I don’t hold my tail when I clean it. Mom thinks maybe an Abyssinian they had did that too, but she isn’t sure.
Thanks for stopping by and wishing our mamabug a happy birthday. We occasionally have been known to hold our tails in our paws to clean, but it’s not the general rule. Of course a lot of our cleaning is done to the other one.
Have a relaxing easy Sunday.
My Kif cleans his tail by holding it with his paws, and he’s on it for hours! My other cat, Tylor, has a bit more finesse to it all and only licks his little tail whilst in my lap.
Lovely blog, by the way!
That’s exactly how I clean my tail!
I don’t clean it everyday… just when I’m giving myself a thorough bath.
Happy First Week of the Year!

I have a polydactyl cat who routinely holds his tail for cleaning but not all the time. He knows how to use those huge paws for other things too like opening cabinets where his treats are and unscrewing jar tops.
