Asia LOVES to jump and leap and chase after several of her favorite toys. Granted, she is 11 months old, so I would HOPE she still wanted to zoom around!
The one funny thing is that even though she is a serious jumper, because she is so dainty, she cannot jump as high as Bayou. Not even close. I feel for her, I am part of the vertically challenged population myself being right at 5 foot tall.
I am still trying to figure out the best way to photograph these antics. Lighting, space, timing, coordination on my part (or lack there of) all come into play to an extreme. (by the way, the table looks closer then it is, she wasn’t in danger of hitting it)

I did manage some interesting shots when I was playing with some settings the other day. Not up to where I would like them, but they were still fun.

Yea, someone has had their food cut back since we got back from vacation……apparently there was little activity and a lot of pigging out while we were gone!!!

May I ask what settings you put your camera on to capture these wonderful shots? I have a Canon Rebel and I’m still learning, but my action shots are always blurred unless the flash is on.
I am using a Canon Rebel T1i, and boy I feel your pain. The photos are really grainy as I had to crank up the ISO to 3200 to get in enough light for most of the shots. Go to the photo source page here http://www.flickr.com/photos/emeadow/4437577657/ , look on the lower right side of the page, and you can look at ‘more properties’ of the picture and check out the exact settings on each one. Mostly between 1/200-1/400 shutter speed, F/3.5, and either 1600 or 3200 ISO. Camera was also on a tripod.
I am currently shopping for lighting sources and maybe another lens. I really want the 50mm 1.4 and am interested to see if I can get this to work not only for indoor stills, but for action as well.
Here is what the camera did a couple weeks ago when it had plenty of light. This was with a telephoto lens, not on a tripod (I was seated). Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! I will be checking out your flickr. This camera stuff is all new to me, but I do want to learn. I know really nothing about the camera and really just learning by trial and error. This info will certainly be helpful to me!
Since we got the camera I have been raiding the library for photo books and finding bloggers that share good ’simple’ info and how to posts. I am looking at some classes at a local camera store next, but still goofing around on my own for the most part right now. I am learning to make taking my camera everywhere a habit, and just taking LOTS and LOTS of shots. And then some more.

Le sigh….I did submit some shots to her contest, but not one of the leaping versions. I just did not like the clarity in them. She seemed to focus a lot on post processing for her selections in the end, which I do not usually spend a ton of time on. It was fun to look at all the photos on the flickr page though! Almost 50,000 submissions!
I agree that PW did seem to go for pictures that had been processed. Also, some people were complaining in comments about professionals and amateurs competing with each other. Interesting that many of the winners were darker tabbies.
Mom didn’t enter any of me – preferred just to look at PW’s picks.

What fantastic photos! It’s so hard to get action shots like that without them looking like a big furry blur!
