When it does not snow much during the winter, you can be pretty sure it will snow in the spring here in the Colorado Rockies. We had almost 70 degree temps last week, to wake up to 10 inches of snow on the ground and 20 degrees by the next morning.
That right there IS Colorado weather summed up.
Monday it was around 60 degrees, today we have a foot of snow on the ground. This was not a major storm, just moved in quick and made driving a nightmare for a few hours.
Oh, and for some reason it knocked out power for us (that is a first in 8 years at this house).
We ended up pulling out camping gear and setting up cots next to the fire to sleep for the night.
CAMPING!!!
Boy the cats were like little kids all last night. Whose bed do we sleep on? Why is everyone in the family room? Why is the fire on all night? Whats that noise? Whats Dexter doing? Why is the sky blue?
OY!!
Needless to say, it was like a slumber party with 4 kids who had eaten gummy bears and ice cream all evening!
I took these shots early this morning when the power came on for a few minutes. Everyone looks quite sleepy NOW, don’t they??
Asia thought the cots were just a new cat play gym we set up for her to hide all her toys under. Hrmph.
Once it got light out, I thought it would be nice to go out for a stroll!
Dexter seems to fair the best to the cold with his fuzzy coat, Asia was shuddering within seconds. Bayou and Cosmo both gave me super bad looks and wouldn’t step foot out the door.
Was it cruel of me to tease them with a walk outside? Ahhhh, I figure we are now even after they kept me up all night.
Normally we only go out the door with harnesses, it prevents door dashing…..but maybe twice a year I use the ‘snow barrier’ and see what they will do with the door wide open

Asia decided the cots and the fire were far better then the snow once it was all over.

Great “scene” at the front door. Dexter is as much a character as Asia is. I loved how he went back for her on the porch. “Are you coming?”
Wonderful Camping pics and stories too!

First of all how GORGEOUS are you guys! You are just too cute for words. The weather is really weird here in Illinois too. The temperature was in the 60s the day before Spring came, then it started snowing that night. When we got up the next day, the temperature fell under 30.
Little Asia seems quite overwhelmed by all that weird white stuff!
Brilliant video! I just love it when it snows and the cats go outside. It doesn’t matter how many times they have seen snow, their faces always have that WTF!?! expression.
