I think some folks aim for about 2-3% of their body weight, but that depends on each cat. I feed almost half the amount to my two older less active cats as I do my smallest but most active feline. Plus it really goes up and down in the seasons (they burn more in the colder winter months usually). My heaviest least moving feline eats 2.2% of his ideal body weight total a day. My most active young bengal eats 4.2% of her ideal body weight. To convert, I feed anywhere from 4 ounces total, to 6 ounces total a day to each feline.

How much does each cat eat in a sitting? I'm working my way to the whole prey model and I'm having trouble figuring out how much my cat should eat in one sitting. Is there some kind of math in regards to the cat's current weight?

We don't do the raw feeding at our house - partly because I am not a fan of raw meat myself, and partly because we did try a raw food one time and you would have thought that I had asked the cats to eat their own foot or something - they woudl have no part of it! There are days I wish they would at least try it though - I know it would be nice and healthy for them.

It looks like your group has no problem with it though - they seemed very excited!!

Mommy! How soon can WE start raw feeding!?!

Wow...after opening 20 cans of cat food a day the raw feeding is sounding a LOT easier...now only if Hubby wasn't squeamish!
