The four felines of the household. Left to Right: Asia, Bayou, Dexter (orange), & Cosmo

Currently the Pet Meadow household consists of four cats, two dogs, a dozen or so fish, and two humans. I tend to be the be the cat person of the household, but the dogs will make appearances now and again.

The purpose of Pet Meadow may change over time, but for now here is where we are at:

Pet Meadow is a place for me to share not only the joy I experience with my pets through humor, photography, and videos, but also a place to consider our relationship with pets even further. I am an analyzer through and through so I spend a lot of time looking at the human interaction with pets, exploring new ideas for training, behavior, and diet or health. I do not admit to being an expert in animal behavior, but I continue to grow each day and I will always share my honest opinion. Learning for me never stops, that is why Pet Meadow may continue to evolve over time.

I like to clicker train, but that is just a part of the positive techniques I use. I love when things just ‘work’ in our household. When my bengals follow me to bed after a long day, curl up immediately and pass out for a full nights sleep, I know I have done something right. When my grumpy boy Dexter gives nose kisses to the other male cat and dashes off in a playful mood, I know I am finally doing things right by him after past years of struggles. When I see my senior cat bounce up and down the halls like a kitten chasing her favorite paper ball, I know I am making good decisions in their diet and health.

I do feed a raw diet to my cats and have for over seven years now. I am not a purist though, and I am always open to new thoughts on animal nutrition. Growth does not happen without healthy discussion and even debate.

I am driven to provide my pets the best life they can have, not through abundance of items necessarily, but through a balanced lifestyle taking into consideration food, activities (both mental and physical), environment, and energy. I cannot replicate exactly what they would experience in the wild, but I feel that through awareness and practice I can do my best to keep their lives as full as possible. In return, they pass on a joy and energy that is positive for everyone around. This website is where I share those experiences.
