Can you believe 2010 is about to be over!?!

It has been a good year here, busy at times, not so busy at others, but all in all a great year. The cat crew is getting along fabulous (even if little Asia is getting an ornery streak on occasion). We inherited another pooch and they have bonded well and have made a great pack. Look forward to seeing what 2011 will bring us all!!

I am feeling a little short on creativity this time around, so here is the Pet Meadow crew from last year wishing everyone a Happy New Year filled with all your favorite goodies!

Here are a few video clips of the bengal crew up to their usual mischief around here.

Here is a good example of the noise level involved with a game of chase. The lower level of the house runs in a circle, which is great for doing laps. Later in the clip Bayou was trying to get Asia to chase him, and she waited until he wasn’t looking of course to pounce from under the box.

The other evening I was attempting a nice peaceful night of reading, but the trouble twins were not cooperating. I finally set up the play tunnels and a couple boxes in the room with me so they would stop digging in cabinets and chasing the other cats who would prefer to nap. This was a clip of some of the antics of the two. Sorry about the lighting and the noise. The dishwasher and fishtank were quite loud. If you notice midway through the video, even with all the toys about, Bayou can still be found attacking the underside of a chair……sigh.

Lastly, here is Asia attempting to break into the last remaining Bonita flakes.

She was biting it before I got the camera out (as you can see in the pic above). The funny thing is, she really doesn’t eat much in the way of Bonita Flakes. She likes to smell them, she might eat one on a rare occassion, but that is it. The smell seems to intrigue her more then anything (and they are smelly, that is for sure!).

Here are a few words from the furballs for the new year…….

“Dear Santa Man,

Its lil’ miss Asia here, I wanted to ask you a favor. I have been a very good kitten this year, and well, since it is my first Christmas, can you help me out?

You see, I have lots of broke toys, and well, they are my favorites. Mum says I shouldn’t play so hard with them, they would last longer, but well…..I am a kitten, and a bengal, and sometimes its hard!

I promise to make my next ones last longer!

Here is my Cat Dancer . Whoever thought a piece of wire and cardboard could be SO much fun!!??

But mine is missing all their cardboard bits!

Mum puts them back on, but now they don’t stay anymore. This is actually my third one since coming here, but they is SO much fun!! I taught myself to play with them all by myself (mum wants to take a video of me, but we need a new one first…..).

This is my feather wand, but it has only one feather left!

Bayou chews on it too much, I think he ate all da feathers! Mum hides it, but sometimes daddy leaves the closet door open (heh).

This was a fluffy feather thing…..but all the feathers came out too.

Mum said it wasn’t made very well, but its still lots oh fun!

We lurv Da Bird Toy, even Cosmo plays with it. But we have broken all the feathers, and mum says we are out of refills.

This one still kinda works, but he has a broken feather too, so he doesn’t fly so well.

I promise to be good all year, really!! Thank you in advance, and I promise to leave some nip for you when you come!!

The holidays are upon us, that is for sure! I have some finishing touches to put on several of the remaining raw articles, including a video on what the Meadow crew eats every dat (yummy, raw meat videos!).

While I prepare for the last holiday party on the calendar, here are a few videos from the last week to hold everyone over.

Here is a bit of an Asia spaz moment…..

Asia loves to watch the dogs play in the backyard. She especially likes Pearl our english pointer, whom she gets to chattering at. Here is a short version of her chatter (mixed in with Dexter and Bayou commentary in the background).

I went shopping at the local big box supply store, and not only did I come home with enough soap and trash bags to last five years, I was provided with a great produce box. The whole crew has been amusing themselves with it all week.

Cats love boxes, that is a given.

Bengals love boxes….especially ones that move.

Dexter and Cosmo already think Asia and Bayou are odd. When they ride around in moving boxes, the look on their faces says the belief has been confirmed again….bengals are weird.

Dex and Mo refuse to participate in silly games like “box train”, “race car box”, and definitely not “earthquake box”. That’s just not proper!

Today is the day. Nothing special really in the scheme of things, just Asia going in for her spay surgery. Simple procedure, nothing new to me, I worked at vets for years…………but all the same, I am a mess.

I am not worried about the surgery, I trust my vet, and I know they will do fine. I am more worried about Lil’ Miss off in a strange place with strange folks poking on her.

She is not like Bayou, the charismatic, love everyone boy that warms the hearts of all he meets and is a super favorite at the vet (and gets away with being a wild child because of it).

Poor Asia is a momma’s girl, who only sleeps on momma’s lap, and only talks to mum, and only wants to be held by mum………..and Momma is smitten. I take her all over, invite friends over, and my husband has tried, but alas, while she is totally laid back about new situations and not aggressive in any way, she really could care less about anyone else (unless they have a favorite toy). So needless to say, she will not be the easiest to handle today on the surgery list at the vets.

So now I am feeling worse then I have for any other pet or procedure before. I also cannot seem to take any of the advice I would normally give others, funny how that works.

Off to sit by the phone and contemplate how people can handle having children without putting them in a bubble.

Recorded this video on Monday, probably the last ‘zoomies’ she will have for a bit. Hoping to keep her relaxed for at least a few days post surgery.

So, if anyone has been to my house, met my cats, there is one obvious factor. Bayou is loud in volume and LOVES everyone, Asia is a bit of a crazy thing, Cosmo is the perfect princess, and lastly….Dexter can meow, forever, nonstop.

He likes to meow. We have worked on it through training, but there are still moments. I was trying to film Asia helping in the dishwasher…again…. but when I reviewed the clips, I found that Dexter sort of took over the scene. Sometimes you wonder if he breaths in there.

Asia likes boxes, but like no other cat I have had. She loves to DESTROY them. Started with an egg carton left out, and is now full blown box destruction. She doesn’t chew on anything else, which I am VERY thankful for. (sorry about the orange overtone, youtube made it even worse then it was originally)

Asia doesn’t meow so much, as she peeps, chirps, and makes various not quite a full meow noises. She has her talkative times of the day, sometimes hard to catch them on film. Her purr/meow combos are the best, and she will do them when running around the house. Lately if she does not know where I am at, I have found out she has amazing power behind those chirps if she wants to.

Apparently its video week…..just seem to be in that mood.

Do you want to know how hard it is to catch two bengals on video chasing around the house? I get mostly tails zooming by, and the sound of them thumping away more then anything.
